Vedas

Vedas are a collection of hymns, prayers, rituals, and philosophical teachings that form the foundation of Hindu religious practices and beliefs.There are four main Vedas:

1. Rigveda: Contains hymns to the gods, expressing the cosmic order (Rita) and the nature of the divine.

2. Yajurveda: A manual for priests, focused on the sacrificial rituals and prayers.

3. Samaveda: Primarily concerned with the melodies and chants used during rituals.

4. Atharvaveda: Contains hymns for daily life, dealing with healing, protection, and worldly matters.

The Vedas are considered eternal, "śruti" (that which is heard), and are said to be divinely revealed to ancient sages (rishis) through direct spiritual insight. Their teachings encompass cosmology, ethics, metaphysics, and rituals, and they continue to influence Hindu philosophy, spirituality, and cultural practices today.
